Parking Expansion Project To Begin At Former Olde Towne Inn Lot In Manassas

MANASSAS, VA — More downtown parking in Manassas will be provided with a project starting Thursday at the now-demolished Olde Towne Inn site.

According to the city, public works will nearly double parking spaces at the 9403 Main Street property, bringing parking spaces to 130. The parking expansion costs $160,000 and will run from Thursday through May 2. The work to add more parking involves smoothing out the ground at the former Olde Towne Inn site.

The project seeks to provide more convenient parking for residents, visitors and businesses in historic Old Town Manassas, according to the city. Parking will be a mix of two-hour and four-hour parking from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. and public parking at other times.

The Olde Towne Inn dated back to the 1960s and took up one city block in downtown Manassas. The motel was demolished in late 2023, according to Potomac Local. The city had bought the motel site with $5.75 million in funds appropriated in April 2023.

Parking is an interim use as the city works with developers for long-term development at the property. Potomac Local reported that the city is considering development options like a hotel or mixed-use development.
