Update: Pilot Identified In Fatal Fauquier Plane Crash: Police
Authorities have identified the pilot who was killed when his single-engine plane crashed in Fauquier County on Sunday.
FAUQUIER COUNTY, VA — A pilot died when their single-engine plane crashed into trees and caught fire in Fauquier County, Virginia State Police Officials said.
On Monday afternoon, authorities identified the pilot as 62-year-old Simmie Adams of Bealeton.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of Midland Road and Ebenezer Church Road. Investigators believe the plane was trying to land when it hit several trees, crashed into a field, and caught fire.

The pilot was pronounced dead at the crash site. There were no other occupants in the plane, and nobody on the ground was injured. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have both been advised of the crash.
