Forbes 400 Richest: Jacqueline Mars Leads Virginia's Billionaires
Heir to the Mars candy company fortune placed 18th on this year's list with a net worth of $23.4 billion.

The 2015 Forbes’ 400 Richest People in America list posted its highest baseline ever at $1.7 billion, but that didn’t keep three Northern Virginians, including a resident of The Plains, from cracking the list.
Jacqueline Mars, of The Plains, heir to the Mars candy company, placed 18th with a net worth of $23.4 billion. She ranked 19th on last year’s list.
Mars was joined by fellow Northern Virginians William Conway Jr., of McLean, and Daniel D’Aniello, of Vienna. Conway and D’Aniello are two of the three co-founders of the Carlyle Group, a renowned global alternative asset manager that currently possesses approximately $193 billion in assets, according to its website and the Forbes list.

D’Aniello, who still chairs the company, and Conway are each worth $2.6 billion, tying them for 256th on this year’s list. They both placed 190th a year ago.
In all, four Virginians made the list. Winnie Johnson-Marquart, of Virginia Beach, heir to the SC Johnson family fortune, came in at No. 203 with a net worth of $3.2 billion.
