Prince William Humane Society Funds Grants To 13 Organizations

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Additional funding is coming to animal rescue organizations around Virginia, thanks to grants from the Prince William Humane Society through the Homeless Animals Support Network. In total, 13 organizations were awarded grants as part of the network's second grant cycle.

This cycle of awards focused on spaying and neutering animals in underserved areas across Virginia. The humane society said the Brian Fiebig Caregiver Grants would fund spaying and neutering procedures for an estimated 251 dogs and 259 cats.

Here is a full list of organizations that received a Brian Fiebig Caregiver Grant from the humane society:

• Garfield's Rescue, Inc.

• Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue
• Animal Resources of Tidewater
• Friends of Russell County Animals

The grants are awarded in memory of Brian Fiebig, who worked at the Prince William Humane Society's adopt shop. Fiebig died last May in a drowning accident in Ocean City, Maryland, the humane society said.

On Facebook, many of the grant recipients expressed their gratitude. "We are incredibly grateful to receive this grant and look forward honoring Brian’s memory and helping animals in our community," Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge wrote.

Prince William Animal Advocates expressed a similar sentiment. They said their funds would be used to spay and neuter former street cats.

Other organizations, like the Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue, have already taken advantage of opportunities provided by the grant. "Appalachian Great Pyrenees Rescue is so grateful for the support from Prince William Humane Society," the rescue organization wrote on Facebook. "As a result of the recent grant, we were able to bring in four Pyrs requiring spay/neuter. The grant will fund their upcoming surgeries."

All of the grant recipients are part of the humane society's Homeless Animals Support Network, which helps fund and support no-kill shelters and rescues in need. More information about the Homeless Animals Support Network is available online.
