Prince William Water Gets Water Quality Results For Its 5 Distribution Systems
The new annual report on water quality details levels of substances to determine if the drinking water meets safe standards.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Prince William Water, the drinking water utility for many households in Prince William County, has released findings from its annual water quality report.
The annual water quality report is required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for water utilities. In the latest report, Prince William Water said it met all federal and state water quality standards for the 2024 regulatory period.
"Prince William Water met or exceeded all state and federal water quality standards in 2024, reflecting our continued commitment to protecting public health and the environment," said Calvin D. Farr, Jr., general manager and CEO of Prince William Water. "Looking ahead, we’re preparing for upcoming regulations, including the Revised Lead and Copper Rule and PFAS limits, to ensure our water remains safe and compliant."

The report details Prince William Water’s distribution systems—East, West, Hoadly Manor, Carter’s Grove, and Bull Run Mountain and Evergreen. For each system, the report identifies levels of substances detected, including barium, nitrate, combined radium, beta photon emitters, copper, lead and sodium. No violations of substance levels were identified for the five distribution systems.
Most of Prince William Water's drinking water is sourced from the Potomac River, Occoquan Reservoir and Lake Manassas. The majority of water is treated at Fairfax Water facilities, and some customers in western Prince William County receive water treated by the City of Manassas Water Treatment Plant. Bull Run Mountain and Evergreen customers receive their water from six public groundwater wells. Prince William Water was formerly known as the Prince William County Service Authority.
