More than two dozen puppies were seized from a Manassas pet store after being found in unsanitary conditions: Manassas City Police.

MANASSAS, VA—More than two dozen puppies were seized from Capital City Pups at 9021 Center Street after being found in unsanitary conditions, according to Manassas City Police. The owner and the business manager were cited and released on summonses. Nathan Port, 39, of Annandale, and Anthony Zigmont, 28, of Manassas, were each charged with 26 counts of inadequate care.
On May 15, Animal Control received a complaint of possible care issues at the business. An investigation found that 25 dogs were being held in inadequate conditions and violated state code. They were taken to the Manassas Animal Adoption Center, where they will remain until the investigation is complete.
MCPD spokesman Sarah Maroney said the puppies were treated by a veterinarian Monday. Anyone with information possibly related to the case is urged to call police at 703-257-8009.
