PWCS Superintendent LaTanya McDade's Contract Extended Through June 2028
A performance review by the Prince William County School Board led to a contract extension for Superintendent LaTanya McDade.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Prince William County Public Schools' superintendent is slated to stay a few more years. The Prince William County School Board voted to extend LaTanya D. McDade's four-year contract through June 30, 2028.
The School Board has extended the four-year contract in past years as a result of performance reviews. McDade became the first woman and African American superintendent of PWCS in 2021.
PWCS did not publicly disclose McDade's salary with the contract extension announcement. McDade's original contract that started on July 1, 2021 had a base salary of $310,000, but InsideNova reported in 2022 that the superintendent receives an annual pay increase with the same percentage as the average staff pay raise.

Dr. Babur Lateef, who serves as the Prince William County School Board chair, credited McDade with carrying out the school district's strategic plan, providing record pay increases for employees, implementing a collective bargaining agreement, increasing student success opportunities, and increasing the district's accountability and transparency. The school district said 100 percent of its graduates now have a post-secondary school plan, a priority for the superintendent.
"Dr. McDade is a highly sought individual to lead other school districts across the nation; we are fortunate to have her talents here in Prince William County," said Lateef continued. "We are grateful for her commitment to our school division, and she has become part of Prince William County’s family. Her leadership has shown tremendous dividends for our community, and we hope to keep her for the long term."
