Republican Nominee Chosen In Prince William County Supervisor Special Election
Republican and Democratic nominees are set for the special election after the Republican firehouse primary on Saturday.

GAINESVILLE, VA — Republican and Democratic nominees are now set in the special election for Gainesville District supervisor on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. The Prince William County Republican Committee announced Patrick Harders won the firehouse primary on Saturday at Bull Run Middle School.
Harders won with 1,838 votes to Brian Landrum's 840 votes. He will face Democratic nominee George T. Stewart in the Nov. 4 special election.
"This strong turnout shows the tremendous enthusiasm and energy among Republicans as we gear up to hold the Gainesville Supervisor seat this November," the party said on social media. "Together, we are building momentum to deliver common-sense leadership and keep Prince William County moving in the right direction.

Harders, owner of a lighting design small business, has been in the Gainesville District for more than 20 years.
"Tonight, the people of Gainesville made their voices heard, and I am humbled by their trust," Harders said in a social media post after the firehouse primary. "Together, we stood for lower taxes, responsible growth, and protecting our community from unchecked data center sprawl. This victory belongs to every neighbor who knocked a door, made a call, or cast a ballot for a better Gainesville."

A special election is being held by the Prince William County Office of Elections after the death of Supervisor Bob Weir (R-Gainesville) from metastatic colon cancer on July 20. The special election coincides with other Prince William County general elections being held on Nov. 4. Early voting will begin on Sept. 19. Only voters in the Gainesville magisterial district will be able to vote in the special election.
