
It's the last week before Manassas and Manassas Park children head back to school. Here's a list of important school dates, but we've also included a few fun events to squeeze in before the kids get down to the business of learning.
Tuesday
- Sandy Thompson, supervisor of administration services with Manassas City Public Schools will present the division's annual review of School Crisis Plans to the school board on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
- "Take Out Tuesdays" encourages diners to grab some grub from one of old town's eateries between 6 and 8 p.m. and enjoy it while listening to entertainment at the Harris Pavilion.
- Learn the basics of canning and preserving at 9 a.m. at the Manassas Church of the Brethren, 10047 Nokesville Rd.
Thursday
- The Manassas Farmers' Market is from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Osbourn High School's freshman and new student orientation is at 8 a.m. The school will hosts an orientation for parents of news students and freshman at 6:30 p.m.
- Haydon Elementary School's teacher open house is at 1 p.m. followed by a Kindergarten open house at 2 p.m.
- Baldwin Elementary School's open house for pre-K and Kindergarten students is from 2 to 3 p.m. An open house for new students in grades 1-4 is from 3 to 4 p.m. at Baldwin.
- Weems Elementary School's meet and greet is at 2 p.m.
Friday
- Round Elementary School has its Kindergarten orientation at 9:30 and a new student orientation at 11 a.m.
- Metz Middle School has its student orientation at 8:30 a.m. while Mayfield Intermediate has new student orientation at 9:30 a.m.
- The Smart Markets Inc. farmers' market is from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Manassas Park City Hall Parking lot
