Severe Thunderstorm Watch Forecast In NoVA Region Over 2 Days
Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and large hail could happen over two days in Northern VA, the National Weather Service warned.
VIRGINIA — Summer-like temperatures and sunny conditions could give way to a cold front producing showers and thunderstorms, some of which could be severe in the Northern Virginia and DC region.
A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for the greater region by the National Weather Service's Baltimore-Washington Office. Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms are forecast over several days, but Wednesday and Thursday brings the chance of severe storms.
As of 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, the National weather Service said scattered showers and thunderstorms were moving east from the Interstate 81 corridor. The precipitation could affect the immediate DC region between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Severe storms have the ability to bring damaging winds and large hail.

Areas under the severe thunderstorm watch in Northern Virginia are the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park as well as Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford County, Fauquier County and other counties. The watch runs until 8 p.m.
The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang said temperatures were approaching 90 before a cold front brings showers and thunderstorms in the evening into the night. Strong storms are especially possible west of Washington, DC.

On Thursday, the Capital Weather Gang says strong to severe thunderstorms are again possible as scattered showers and storms make their way through the region in the afternoon.
