Restaurant Shooting In Prince William County Leads To Charges For Teen

Prince William County Police say the suspect and one other person were injured after an altercation escalated into a shooting.

GAINESVILLE, VA — An altercation that escalated into a shooting at a restaurant in western Prince William County has led to charges for a teen over Labor Day weekend, police say.

Around 1:20 a.m. Saturday, Prince William County Police responded to a shooting at Bar Louie at 14081 Promenade Commons St in Gainesville. A police investigation found a 26-year-old man had a verbal dispute with the 17-year-old boy inside the restaurant. The altercation led to the teen firing gunshots before the altercation dispersed.

The 26-year-old man got a lower body gunshot wound and went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect went to a separate hospital with a non-life-threatening lower body gunshot wound. Police preliminarily believe the suspect's gunshot wound was self-inflicted after the altercation.

The 17-year-old of Bristow was arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, brandishing, reckless handling resulting in injury, shooting in an occupied building, possession of a concealed weapon, and possession of a handgun by a juvenile. He is being held at the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm: On September 1, officers responded to investigate shots fired call that was reported to have occurred in the parking lot of Ninety Degrees located at 8509 Rixlew Ln in Manassas (20109) earlier that morning around 1:00AM. The investigation reaved a physical altercation had occurred in the parking lot before the parties separated. One of the parties returned a short time later and gunshots were heard. The nearby Word Alive Church International was struck. No injuries or other property damage were reported. The parties involved in the altercation were known to one another.

Residential Burglary/Assault: On September 1 at 7:28PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 8300 block of Cobb Rd in Manassas (20112) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed the homeowner, a 62-year-old woman, was confronted by an unknown man who had entered the residence without permission. At the time of the incident, the homeowner was renovating the residence and had left the front door open. The man engaged the victim in conversation before proceeding to hug and kiss her without consent. The suspect then left the home. No injuries were reported, and no property was taken. The suspect was last seen getting into a red van with a thunderbolt along the side.

Attempted Commercial Burglary: On September 1 at 4:30AM, officers responded to the Cabelas located at 5291 Wellington Branch Dr in Gainesville (20155) to investigate an attempted burglary. The investigation revealed overnight staff inside the business observed three unknown individuals attempt to enter the business by shattering the front glass windows with a blunt object before leaving the area. No entry was made into the business, and no property was reported missing. The suspects were only described as wearing all dark-colored clothing.

Malicious Wounding: On August 31 at 7:59PM, officers responded to the 13500 block of Spriggs Rd in Manassas (20112) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed the victims, a 62-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, were walking in the above area when they were approached by an unknown woman, later identified as the accused. During an unprovoked encounter, the accused knocked the female victim to the ground and then bit the male victim who attempted to intervene in the assault. The accused then left the area on foot. Both victims were treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was later located at her home and detained. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Quai Alexandria Travis, was arrested.
