To get through airport security lines faster, residents can enroll in TSA PreCheck at upcoming events in Manassas.
MANASSAS, VA — If getting through TSA's airport security lines more quickly is a priority for you, AAA will offer enrollment events at its Manassas location.

"With the busy holiday travel season just around the corner, this TSA PreCheck enrollment opportunity couldn’t come at a better time for travelers hoping to avoid long airport lines," said Ragina Ali, the public and government affairs manager at AAA Mid-Atlantic. "TSA PreCheck enables identified, low-risk air travelers to enjoy an expedited and efficient security screening experience."
Enrolling in TSA PreCheck allows travelers to use the dedicated TSA PreCheck screening lanes at 200 participating U.S. airports. At security checkpoints, travelers do not need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets. The membership is good for five years and is open to U.S. citizens, nationals and lawful permanent residents.

Before attending the enrollment event, AAA says residents should complete pre-registration and appointment scheduling online at AAA.com/TSA. At the appointment, residents will provide fingerprints for a background check and will need to bring documentation proving identity and citizenship status. A valid U.S. passport can serve as the only identity needed at the appointment.
The name on the documents must match proof of identity, or residents will have to bring an original or certified copy of a court ordered name change document, such as marriage certificates and divorce decrees.
There is an enrollment fee of $78, which may be paid by credit card, money order, company check or certified/cashier’s check but not cash or certified checks. Most applicants receive their Known Traveler Number for TSA PreCheck in three to five days.
Travelers must add their Known Traveler Number to flight reservations to use TSA PreCheck at security checkpoints. Children 12 and under may accompany an enrolled parent or guardian in the TSA PreCheck lanes without restrictions. Children ages 13 to 17 may join the enrolled adults if they are on the same reservation and have the TSA PreCheck indicator on the children's boarding pass.
Residents do not have to be an AAA member to attend the TSA PreCheck enrollment events. AAA travel experts on site can help applicants book travel, provide travel planning resources and offer luggage and travel accessories.
