MANASSAS, VA — Manassas City Public Schools will join select local school divisions in offering a the Virginia Virtual Academy.

On Tuesday, the Manassas City School Board approved an agreement with K12 Virtual Schools L.L.C. to launch the Virginia Virtual Academy. This will make the Virginia Virtual Academy of Manassas the school division's 10th school.

Virtual Virginia Academy allows students anywhere with internet access in Virginia to enroll. According to MCPS, the partnership will allow the school division to enroll up to 3,890 students outside the district in the online program. State funding would cover operational costs of the virtual program. The school division says it wouldn't impact local funding for MCPS students or cost the school division money for out-of-district students.
