VRE Saturday Service Could Come Within A Year: Report

There are several hurdles to be cleared before Saturday service can be introduced for the first time, according to a report.

MANASSAS, VA — Virginia Railway Express is expecting to introduce Saturday service for the first time within a year, according to a new report on the timeline.

Inside Nova reported that VRE will look to add the weekend service in 10 months or sooner. That is dependent on VRE reaching agreement with its host railroads — Amtrak, CSX Transportation, and Norfolk Southern. Amtrack is also working on switch and signal upgrades at DC's Union Station.
