Police Investigating Shooting Report With 1 Injury In Manassas
City of Manassas Police responded to a shooting report and found the injured victim at a hospital.
MANASSAS, VA — One person was injured in an apparent shooting in Manassas over the weekend, according to city police.
Around 1:28 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, police responded to the 8900 block of Center Street for reports of shots fired. Police say there was evidence on the scene that a shooting had happened. Witnesses reported a vehicle leaving the scene of the shooting.
The victim was found at the hospital and is in stable condition.

Police did a canvass of the area to seek information about the shooting. There was no initial information on the circumstances leading to the shooting, but police believe the incident was isolated and poses no further threat to the public. The investigation by detectives remains active.

Another incident with shots fired was reported the same morning around 2:37 a.m. in the 9400 block of West Street. Police say a physical altercation between two people involved one pulling out a gun and firing several rounds. The other fled the scene and was not injured.
Police detained the person with the gun at the scene. Police say he falsely identified himself as a law enforcement officer.
Oscar Justiniano Vaca, 34, was arrested and charged with reckless handling of a firearm, intoxicated in public and impersonating a law enforcement officer. He was held on a $2,500 unsecured bond at the Prince William Detention Center.
