MANASSAS, VA — Families will get a holiday break from work and school to celebrate winter holidays like Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwaanza.

This year, Christmas falls on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and may result in holiday closures and schedule changes over several days. In Manassas and Prince William County, schools are closed for an extended break. Local government offices and some other services will be closed for several days.

Here are all the openings and closings to know around Manassas and Prince William County for Christmas Eve on Dec. 24 and Christmas Day on Dec. 25.

City of Manassas government offices: Closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

City of Manassas Park government offices: Closed on Dec. 24 and 26. The registrar is closed Dec. 23 to 30.

Manassas City Public Schools: Closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3.

Prince William County Public Schools: Closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3.

Manassas Park City Schools: Early release on Dec. 20 and closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 3.

ABC Stores: Virginia ABC stores will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25.

Bull Run Festival of Lights: Open daily through Jan. 5, including holidays.

Courts: Prince William County courts, Circuit Court Clerk of Court's office, and U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia are closed Dec. 24 to 26.

Community center: The Manassas Park Community Center is closed on Dec. 24 and 25 and open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Dec. 26.

Department of Motor Vehicles: Virginia DMV locations will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Libraries: Prince William County libraries will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Manassas National Battlefield Park: The Henry Hill visitor center is closed on Christmas (Dec. 25). Stone House and Brawner Farm Interpretive Center are closed for the season.

OmniRide: On Dec. 24, there will be regular service on OmniRide Prince William Metro Express, OmniRide Local, OmniRide Access Paratransit and OmniRide Connect Microtransit but no service on OmniRide Express. On Dec. 25, there will be no service.

Post offices: Closed on Dec. 25.

Recreation centers: Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center and Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center are closed on Dec. 24 and 25.

Trash and recycling: In the City of Manassas, trash and recycling service will not be provided on Dec. 25. Wednesday customers will get collections on Dec. 26, Thursday customers will get collections on Dec. 27 and Friday customers will get collections on Dec. 28. TV and computer monitor pickup will not happen on Dec. 26 and be moved to Dec. 27. In Manassas Park, collections will also be moved forward one day to Thursday. The Prince William County Landfill Complex will close at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 and be closed on Dec. 25. For private trash collection services schedule changes, contact your hauler.

Virginia Railway Express: There is no VRE service on Dec. 24 and 25. Trains will run on an S schedule on the weekdays between Christmas (Dec. 25) and New Year's Eve (Dec. 31).
