Celebration of Life Planned for Manassas Area Wing Walker

Funeral arrangements for Bristow air walker still haven't been announced.

A celebration of life ceremony is planned for Bristow resident Jane Wicker, who died June 22 in fiery plane crash during a wing walking stunt in Ohio, according to WDTN News, a Dayton based TV news station.

Wicker, a stunt woman, died exactly one week before her 46th birthday on June 29, according to an obituary from  Walker Funeral Home in Cincinnati.

The obituary makes no mention of funeral arrangements for Wicker, but WDTN reports that on July 9 friends plan to take off from the Flying Circus Aerodrome in Bealeton, VA. where she participated in her first airshow in 1990.

In addition to being a stunt woman, Wicker was also a pilot, a budget analyst for the Federal Aviation Administration and the owner of Jane Wicker Airshows.

She was inspired to pursue aviation in 1988 after accompanying a friend on a scenic flight.  She received a pilot's certificate the following year, according to the obituary.

Wicker and Oakton pilot Charlie Schwenker were in the middle of a performance at the Vectren Air Show near Dayton on June 22 when the plane flew low to the ground and crashed.

Wicker was engaged to Virginia-based United Airlines pilot Rock Skowbo at the time of the crash. The two planned to wed in a wing walking ceremony in 2014.
