• Mount Vernon mansion reopens amid $40 million renovation (djcoregon.com) — Visitors in Mount Vernon can once again tour the first and second floors of George Washington’s mansion after two years of renovation work, with more interior and cellar restoration continuing through 2026. The $40 million project adds a modern HVAC system, repairs termite-damaged structure, and restores Washington’s bedchamber and cellar to their late-1700s appearance, while archaeologists uncover well-preserved 18th-century artifacts.
