Holiday Volunteering: New Hope Housing
New Hope Housing is seeking support for the homeless men, women and children in their local shelter and transitional housing programs this holiday season.

The holiday season is here and that means Alexandria and surrounding communities seek volunteers for many and different causes.

Who: New Hope Housing
What: Donations of food baskets, gift cards (grocery stores such as Giant, Safeway, Shoppers Food Warehouse and super stores such as Walmart and Target), toiletries, new pillows and blankets.

When: Donations are being accepted now for distribution to families and others on Nov. 17 and Dec. 17. For information on food basket contents, visit www.newhopehousing.org and click on "How to Help During the Holidays."

Why: Since 1978, New Hope Housing has been providing an array of services to homeless families and single adults. The nonprofit serves only people who are homeless. New Hope Housing is the oldest and largest provider of shelter beds in Northern Virginia.
