'Lock In' Status Lifted at Several Alexandria Schools After Police Investigated 'Shots Fired'
Alexandria Police sent out an alert Monday afternoon about an investigation of a "shots fired" call to police.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Alexandria City Public Schools said Monday that several schools were in "lock in" mode while police investigated a call about possible shots fired. The school system said that George Washington, Jefferson Houston and the ACPS Central Office were in "lock in" mode from 1:06 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
It's uncertain whether an alert was sent out by ACPS to notify subscribers when the lock-in status started. An alert was sent out though to announce that the lock-in was lifted.
The Alexandria Police Department is investigating the "shots fired" call in the 1200 block of Wythe Street, police said Monday afternoon in an alert sent out shortly before 1 p.m. The initial investigation has not located anyone with injuries, according to police. Expect police activity in the area.
