Tips Lead To 3 Alexandria Resident Arrests In Woodlawn Shooting

Three suspects have been charged in the shooting of an Alexandria man found next to his vehicle.

WOODLAWN, VA — Three Alexandria suspects have been charged in a fatal shooting of an Alexandria resident in the Woodlawn area of Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Police had first responded to a vehicle tampering report around 4:45 a.m. on Sept. 19 in the 3400 block of Buckman Road. Officers located Jaylin Hartless, 21, of Alexandria, on the ground next to his vehicle with upper body gunshot wounds. Officers attempted CPR before fire and rescue personnel pronounced him dead on scene.

Tips provided through Fairfax County Crime Solvers led police to identify the suspects as Tavon Ferguson, 31, of Alexandria, Tennida Ferguson, 49, of Alexandria, and Tavon Lang, 32, of Alexandria.

On Sept. 23, Tavon Ferguson was located in Woodlawn. Ferguson, who was wanted in the City of Alexandria, was taken to Alexandria's Adult Detention Center and held without bond. Detectives obtained warrants for charges of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Ferguson will be extradited to Fairfax County at a later time.

On Sept. 25, detectives located and arrested Tennida Ferguson. She was charged with accessory to murder after the fact, concealing evidence, and obstruction of justice. She was held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

On Sept. 26, detectives arrested Lang and charged him with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
