$3K Raised By TJ Student Via 'AI & Us' Exhibit At Reston Art Gallery

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology student Leah Zhang organizes pop-up exhibit at Reston Art Gallery and Studios.

RESTON, VA — Leah Zhang, a junior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, organized pop-up exhibition at Reston Art Gallery and Studios earlier this month that raised more than $3,000 to help people with disabilities.

The exhibit, entitled “AI & Us,” featured 22 works that were submitted by 15 artists that addressed the impact of artificial intelligence, “sharing the anxieties and inspiration that come with this exciting – and often unnerving – innovation in our lives,” said Zhang.

Featuring titles like “Bad Freedom,” “Soul Sucked,” and “Planted in our Lives," the works were on exhibit from Feb. 24 to March 3. After the week-long run, gallery owner Pat Macintyre presented awards. She also hosted a silent auction in order to sell the artwork, raising more than $3,000 for The Arc of Northern Virginia. The local nonprofit assists people with disabilities.
