Assault Charge Filed Against Substitute Teacher At Reston School
Fairfax County Police have charged a substitute teacher at Dogwood Elementary in Reston with simple assault.

RESTON, VA — A 44-year-old substitute teacher accused of assaulting a student at Dogwood Elementary School in Reston turned herself in to Fairfax County Police on Friday, according to reports.
On Sept. 25, Child Protective Services notified police after receiving a report of a substitute teacher assaulting a student during school hours, according to police. Investigators identified Rakshanda Jaiban of Sterling as a suspect in the case.
On Friday, police issued Jaiban with a summons in connection with the incident and released her on a charge of simple assault, according to the incident report.

The student suffered minor injuries and is receiving assistance from FCPD’s Victim Services Division, according to police.
Fairfax County Public Schools has employed Jaiban as a substitute teacher since 2019. FCPS relieved Jaiban her duties upon learning of the allegation.
