Child Sexual Solicitation Charges Filed Against MN Man In Reston

A man who traveled from Minnesota to meet with a 15-year-old in Reston was arrested on child solicitation charges, according to police.

RESTON, VA — A 30-year-old Minnesota man is faces multiple charges, including four child-solicitation charges, after he traveled across the country to meet with a 15-year-old from Reston, according to Fairfax County Police.

Around 3:05 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of solicitation of a minor in the 2000 block of Blue Ridge Court near Reston. The man who called police said he found his 15-year-old child with an adult inside their home, according to authorities.

Investigators from the police department's Child Exploitation Unit determined that Trent Fair of Minnesota traveled to Reston after he met the victim through the TiKTop app, according to the police report.

Fair was arrested and charged with four counts of solicitation of a minor, five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and production of child sexual abuse material. He was held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to authorities.

The victim is receiving resources and assistance from the police department's Victim Services Division, police said.

“Parents are urged to closely monitor their children’s online activities and use available security settings to prevent the use of inappropriate sites or platforms. Children should be encouraged to report any person engaging in inappropriate conversations or trying to coerce them into providing sexually explicit images of themselves,” Fairfax County police said. “Additional internet safety information provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children can be found HERE. There are many applications predators use to solicit victims. Parents are encouraged to know what applications their children are using and have an open dialog about the dangers they may pose.”
