Fiery Gas Leak In Reston Was Under Control: Firefighters
A gas leak in Reston was lit on fire to help relieve pressure and render it safe, firefighters say.

RESTON, VA — If you saw flames shooting up in the air near Reston Town Center Tuesday night, rest assured that Fairfax County Fire and Rescue had everything under control.
The department shared video of their efforts to contain a gas leak in the 12100 block of Sunset Hills Road that night.
A 1000-gallon propane tank underground was leaking from the pressure relief value, so hazardous materials crews opted to flare the tank, which is a controlled burn of gas in the tank to reduce the volume or lower internal pressure to a safe level.
