GREAT FALLS, VA — Georgetown Pike in Great Falls is closed from Springvale Road to Walker Road due to a gas leak, according to an alert sent out by Fairfax County around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cox Cable was installing underground cable this morning along Georgetown Pike, beginning at Gouldman Lane and working eastbound toward Miller Avenue, when an underground gas line was struck.

Fairfax County Fire & Rescue and Washington Gas crews have responded to the incident. The repair work would take several hours to complete, according to a spokeswoman with the fire department.
