Press Release: United

As United continues to add more flights and new destinations from its Washington Dulles hub, the airline will launch new nonstop service to Reykjavik, Iceland, beginning May 21, 2026.

The new flight brings U.S. travelers more ways to connect to and experience Iceland’s natural beauty like the world-famous Blue Lagoon, Midnight Sun or Northern Lights, Icelandic landscapes, black sand beaches and more.

Since 2019, United has now added flights to nine transatlantic destinations from Washington Dulles. Reykjavik joins this year’s most recent additions of year-round service to Dakar, Senegal, as well as the first and only nonstop seasonal flights from the D.C. region to Nice, France and Venice, Italy.

In case you missed it: On November 2, United will resume flights between Washington Dulles and Tel Aviv, Israel. This resumption marks the first time United has operated this flight from Dulles since October 2023. United’s flight is the only nonstop service between the D.C. region and Tel Aviv.

On December 20, United will launch the only nonstop flights from Dulles to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Vail/Eagle County, Colorado, for peak winter travel and ski season. Both seasonal flights will operate weekly on Saturdays. The flights are scheduled to run through April 4 for spring break.

United is the largest airline in the D.C. region, offering more flights and destinations than any other carrier. United operates nearly 300 daily flights to more than 100 destinations around the world from Dulles.

United is also enhancing the D.C. traveler experience with a new 435,000-square-foot concourse under construction at its Dulles hub that is expected to open in 2026. The new concourse will include direct access to the airport’s AeroTrain, 14 new United gates, and one of the airline’s largest United clubs. Further phases of the new concourse, which will bring more United gates, are expected in the coming years and are part of MWAA's master plan for the airport's future.
