Police Searching for This Vehicle, Which Struck and Killed a Pedestrian Sunday

Detectives will be canvassing the area of Reston where the fatal crash occurred last weekend.

Fairfax County police said they plan to canvass a Reston neighborhood this weekend, searching for anyone who may have witnessed a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred last week.

The crash took place Sunday, Aug. 28 at around 5:15 p.m. in the area of North Shore Drive and Village Road.

Police said it is believed that a yellow Ford Escape may have struck and killed the pedestrian, after the driver failed to stop.

"The vehicle may have front-end damage on the driver's side," police said in an announcement.

Detectives from the Crash Reconstruction Unit plan to canvass the homes in the area of the crash this Sunday, Sept. 4 around 5 p.m., to see if anyone may have seen anything or may have any information about the crash.

Police are asking citizens to get in touch with them if they think they may recognize the vehicle or may have seen the vehicle before, or they may have witnessed the crash.

Police released the above traffic camera image of the actual vehicle involved in the crash.

"Remember, the information you have, regardless of how trivial you think it may be, could be the critical link in solving this case," police said in their announcement.
