Star Student Athlete: Logan Among 'Best Of The Best' Football Kickers

RESTON, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Ivan Lopez who nominated Logan, who is a 10th grade student at Herndon High School from Reston. Lopez wanted to highlight his dedication since he first started playing soccer and made the transition to football as a kicker.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

His dedication since he first started playing soccer and made the transition to Football as a Kicker, (putting, extra points, field goals.) He had never played football until last year. His commitment to excellence as a player this year on the Junior Varsity at Herndon High School has developed into a consistent team contributor for his teammates. He has a big kickoff leg too. when he’s on he can also punt too and seldom misses extra points.

Logan also excels scholastically. This year he was invited to participate in The Kicking World National Showcase, when he won a competition in Springfield earlier this year. The showcase will be held in Austin Texas on December 2-4. He will be competing against athletes who were selected from the 50 states to determine the BEST OF BEST at their event Kickers & Punters (8th-12th Grade) Watch Day 2 LIVE on YouTube. This was an honor to be invited from our region.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

He is involved in his community helping neighbors with yard work and snow removal. He has a great personality and a sincere friend to his peers. He is an exceptional brother and caring son and a wonderful grandson.
