Veteran-Owned Hair Salons Expand Public Service Discounts
Two veteran-owned hair salons in Reston and Fairfax City provide discounted haircuts for military, veterans, and public service personnel.

Press Release: Great Clips
Northern VA — Two local veteran-owned Great Clips salons in Northern Virginia are proud to announce the renewal and expansion of their Public Service Rewards program, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the men and women who serve the community every day. Originally launched in Summer 2023, the Public Service Rewards program provides a $2 discount on regularly priced haircuts for eligible customers who are U.S. military members and veterans, police and law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency responders. The popular program is offered exclusively at the Great Clips salons in Reston and Fairfax.
Under the program, eligible customers verify their service one time by showing a valid ID, after which they may use the rewards card at every visit. The original cards expire at the start of 2026. The newly issued cards renew the salons’ commitment through the end of 2028, extending the program for another three years. As part of the renewal, the salons are also introducing Public Service Rewards key fobs, offering added convenience for customers who prefer a durable, easy-to-carry option.

“This program is one of the many ways we say ‘thank you for your service,’” said Sean Carroll, salon owner and military veteran. “Our public servants show up for our community every day, and this is a small but consistent way for us to recognize their dedication.”

The Public Service Rewards Program complements the salons’ broader commitment to community service. In recent years, the salons have supported Fairfax City’s Valor Awards and partnered with the Fairfax County Police Department’s Victim Services Division on outreach efforts supporting domestic violence survivors. They have also supported The Colonel’s Kitchen, a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to empower wounded warriors, service-disabled veterans and first responders. The salons also proudly participate in Great Clips’ annual Veterans Day tradition of providing free haircuts to U.S. military members and veterans nationwide. On Veterans Day 2025, the two northern Virginia salons provided almost 170 haircuts.
“Our goal is to be more than a place for a great haircut,” Carroll added. “We strive to be an active, supportive part of the communities we serve—especially for those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving others.”
The two participating salons are located at South Lakes Shopping Center (11130 South Lakes Drive, Reston, VA 20191) and Turnpike Shopping (3989 Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA 22031). Eligible customers may inquire about the Public Service Rewards Program at either location. The Public Service Rewards program applies to regular haircuts only and cannot be combined with other discounts, coupons, or promotions.
