Virginia Poll: Clinton's Lead Over Trump Widens in Key State

A significant percentage of voters say their vote would be more 'against' the other candidate than in support of their candidate.

ROANOKE, VA — A new poll conducted out of Roanoke College in Virginia indicates that Democratic presidential nominee Hilary Clinton's lead over Republican nominee Donald Trump has widened to roughly 16 percent throughout the state.

At the same time, it also suggests that while likely voters said they care about the outcome of the presidential election in November, many are "not pleased" with either candidate.

Roanoke College said they interviewed 803 likely voters over 10 days at the beginning of August, and their data has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.

The poll's findings also indicated that Clinton's support among registered Democrats has improved, reaching 91 percent, up from 78 percent just three months ago.

The poll also indicates Clinton's favorability among voters has improved since May, while Trump's has worsened. Clinton received a favorable rating from 39 percent of interviewed voters, up from 35 percent, and her unfavorable rating decreased from 50 percent to 45.
