Walk or Bike to School Day Coming Up Oct. 5
So far 28 Fairfax County schools are signed up to participate this year, and there's still time for more to join in.
Get out those walking shoes - Fairfax County schools are preparing for International Walk to School Day, coming up on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The global event takes place in more than 40 countries. The first annual event took place in 1997, and now takes place every year in Fairfax County as part of the "Safe Routes to School" movement.
Last year, 68 Fairfax County public schools participated. Walk coordinators can register their schools online.
