Richmond Police Department: Third Precinct Officers Make Arrests For Catalytic Converter Thefts

After
receiving a call for a suspicious person under a parked vehicle on Westover
Hills Boulevard, Third Precinct officers responded quickly and made three
arrests.

“One
phone call, three arrests and other thefts averted,” said . “That is the power of community members looking out
for each other, sharing information with RPD, and excellent police work from
officers.” At
approximately 1:23 a.m. on Friday, February 11, officers arrived for the call
for service and observed a male under a vehicle. He attempted to flee the area
on foot but was apprehended by patrol officers. In
a nearby vehicle, officers found two other males with a firearm, tools and a
catalytic converter which had been removed from a vehicle. A photo of the
seized items is attached. Officers
arrested and charged all three with destruction of property and petit
larceny. All three are from Richmond. Their booking photos are also attached. Richmond
is experiencing high volumes of catalytic converter thefts. Please consider
