Assistance League Honored with Grant from Prince of Peace Church

Support from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church Will Provide Clothing for Students at Two Springfield Elementary Schools

Assistance League of Northern Virginia was delighted to be one of six local nonprofit organizations selected by the Difference Makers of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Springfield, to receive a grant. During a ceremony at the church, representatives from the nonprofits received their awards from Pastor Michael Hayes and Outreach Minister Jung Choi. The grantees provided brief reviews of their organization’s programs and described how they will use the grant. Assistance League plans to purchase clothing for two Springfield elementary schools it serves, after receiving input from counselors at each school regarding the items most needed, such as pants, shirts, shoes, and winter coats, and the sizes wanted for boys and girls.

The generosity of Prince of Peace Church is a double blessing. Its Difference Makers team had awarded Assistance League a grant in late 2019 and the nonprofit is grateful that the church was satisfied by its use of those grant funds and wanted to collaborate again. Both Assistance League of Northern Virginia and Prince of Peace Church are devoted to making a difference in our community and this grant will double the impact each group makes.
