Carjacking In Cameron Station Area Results In Arrest: Police

Alexandria Police say charges are pending after two people reported an armed carjacking.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An armed carjacking in the Cameron Station area of Alexandria resulted in an arrest Tuesday, according to Alexandria Police.

Police responded around 8:42 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of Cameron Station Boulevard. Two victims reported an armed suspect carjacked them in the 5500 block of Cardinal Place. The victims got away from the suspect when he stopped the vehicle in the 400 block of Ferdinand Day Drive, then they fled to Armistead Boothe Park to call 911.

A helicopter was brought in to help officers and K-9 units search for the suspect. Officers recovered the vehicle and a gun during the search and arrested the suspect around 9:20 p.m. near the S. Reynolds Street and Duke Street intersection.

The suspect was only identified as a 25-year-old man. During the booking process, the suspect had a medical emergency and was taken to the hospital. He is in stable condition. Charges are pending, per a police spokesperson.
