Christmas at Mount Vernon, Chanukah Festival, Tree Lighting Ceremony and More Events this Weekend

Some events in the Alexandria area this weekend:

Christmas programs at Mount Vernon programs begin on Friday. Go on a candlelight tour of the mansion and listen to Christmas carols. See a full schedule of events online. 

The city of Alexandria’s annual tree lighting ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. Friday at Market Square on 301 King St. Admission is free.

Celebrate Chanukah at a Festival in Old Town Alexandria at 5 p.m. Sunday. Community leaders will light a giant menorah, and there will be hot potato latkes on sale and more. 

St. Andrew & St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church is holding a Kirkin of the Tartan and Evening Prayer service at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church on 402 E. Monroe Ave. There will be a bagpiper, Scottish music, and a blessing of the Scottish tartans.
