Police: Victim Hit Attacker Over the Head With Vase

A woman was able to free herself during a domestic assault by hitting her attacker over the head with a glass vase, according to Prince William County Police.
Charles Meyers, 31, of the 15000 block of Sunny Ridge Court in Woodbridge, is charged with strangulation and domestic assault and battery.
On May 24 at 3:30 a.m., a 40-year-old Woodbridge woman reported that she and Meyers, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.

"During the encounter, the accused began to strangle the victim. At one point, the victim was able to strike the accused with a glass vase which caused him to let her go. The accused then continue to assault the victim leading to a struggle between the two parties," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release.
The victim sustained minor injuries. Following the investigation, police arrested Meyers without further incident, Perok said.

The incident was the second report of domestic assault and strangulation within the space of half an hour that night in the Woodbridge area.
