Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Prince William County
Dispose of the drying trees at several sites recommended by the county, and free wood-chip much is available.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA — Some of you are able to simply dump that shell-of-its-former-self Christmas tree by the side of the curb, it's usefulness no longer desired or needed. Some of you aren't afforded that option, however, so Prince William County offers alternatives.
Sure, it involves a quick trip, but this is a way to make sure it goes on to have another life in the form of, say, compost or mulch. Toward that end, trees and greenery will be accepted at the following locations:
- The Prince William County Landfill at 14811 Dumfries Road in Manassas – Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. www.pwcgov.org/trashandrecycli...
- The Balls Ford Road Compost Facility at 13000 Balls Ford Road in Manassas – Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. www.pwcgov.org/trashandrecycli...
- Leesylvania State Park at 2001 Daniel K. Ludwig Drive in Woodbridge, off Neabsco Road – Trees may be dropped off at Shelter 2 and will be used for habitat.
- Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative, or NOVEC, at 5399 Wellington Branch Road in Gainesville – Dec. 26 through Jan. 7. The drop off area is in the front parking lot in the area outlined with the orange safety cones. NOVEC will deliver the wood-chip mulch to interested customer-owners at no charge. Visit www.novec.com/mulch for more information.
