Escaped Teen Apprehended In Prince William County: UPDATE
UPDATE: Authorities have apprehended Jairo Argueta Benitez, who escaped police custody Monday afternoon at the Juvenile Detention Center.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VA—Authorities have apprehended a teenage boy, Jairo Argueta Benitez, 16, who escaped police custody Monday afternoon, July 1, according to Prince William County Police. He was found late Monday night after a nine-hour search near the Kelley Leadership Building along Dumfries Road with the help of a K-9 unit.
The teen escaped a Sheriff's Deputy at the Juvenile Detention Center around 2 p.m. Monday at 14873 Dumfries Road after returning from court on non-violent charges. He had managed to remove his handcuffs in the vehicle and fled while being removed from it. The officer wasn't injured.
During the search, a helicopter assistance was provided by Fairfax County Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Police released the juvenile's name after receiving the OK from the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court of Prince William County.
