Contaminant Spread Through Cooler Fans, More Restaurant Violations

WOODBRIDGE, VA — In recent weeks, health inspectors found violations at some restaurants during inspections in the Woodbridge area.

Health inspectors conduct most restaurant and other health inspections in person. However, some visits, such as those for training purposes, can be conducted virtually. Violations typically focus on factors that can contribute to food contamination. The local health department can also perform a re-inspection to ensure that possible violations have been corrected.

For every observed violation, the inspector provides a specific corrective action that can be completed to rectify the violation. Sometimes these are simple, and violations can be corrected during the course of the inspection. Other violations are addressed later, and an inspector may conduct a follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.

Here are the most recent inspections from the Woodbridge and eastern Prince William County area, according to the Prince William Health District. At La Luna Grill, health inspectors noted that equipment had "food contaminate built up over a long period of time."

At Bob Evans Restaurant, health inspectors found a build-up of contaminants being spread through cooling unit fans in the walk-in refrigerator.

There were also violations that appeared at multiple restaurants, such as improper hair restraints, foods cold holding at improper temperatures and raw foods stored near other foods. Health inspections made suggestions for corrections in the reports.
