Apartment Fire Displaces 19 Residents In Lakewood

West Pierce Fire & Rescue reports that the blaze - which started around 4 a.m., Monday - caused some $400,000 in damage.

An early morning fire Monday displaced 19 residents in Lakewood, including four children.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue first responded to the fire began around 4 a.m., Monday at 7523 Dean Street SW.

No serious injuries were reported, although two people were treated at the scene: one person for smoke inhalation, the other for foot injuries sustained while kicking in doors to alert people of the fire.

Fire crews had the fire under control by 5 a.m.

Two of the apartment units are a total loss, while two others have smoke damage. West Pierce estimates total damage around $400,000.
