Artillery, Mortar Training At JBLM This Week

Nearby residents should expect increased noise and activity around JBLM during artillery and mortar training exercises this week.

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, WA - Day and late-night artillery and mortar training at Joint Base Lewis-McChord began Tuesday morning and will continue through Sunday night, according to base officials. Nearby residents are advised to expect increased noise and activity around the base this week.

The training that began at 6 a.m. March 26 will continue through 11:59 p.m. March 31. The training involves 155mm Howitzer artillery, as well as 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm mortars.

Two JBLM units are expected to participate in the training, which will occur during both day and night hours.
