Bates Tech Gets Mobile Food Bank Service

Nourish Pierce County will setup its mobile food bank on the Bates Tech South Campus every Thursday beginning Feb. 14.

TACOMA, WA - A mobile food bank will soon have a secured presence on the Bates Technical College South Campus in Tacoma for students and community members in-need of a little help.

The Nourish Pierce County Mobile Food Bank will setup shop on the South Campus every Thursday between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. beginning Valentine's Day, Feb. 14. The South Campus is located at 2201 S. 78th St.

Available food items will be provided at no cost and include both perishable and nonperishable fare.

A special grand opening event to help boost awareness and celebrate the partnership between Bates Tech and Nourish Pierce County will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14 on the South Campus, prior to the mobile food bank's first official day of service.

"We are excited to bring this much-needed resource to our college community, which will augment the student government-led food pantry efforts at each of our three campuses," Bates Tech President Lin Zhou said in a statement. "The college cares about the health and well-being of our students, and this partnership will make a difference in the lives of our students and their families."
