Clover Park High Locked Down Amid Police Pursuit

Deputies say they chased an armed carjacker to Clover Park High School midday Wednesday, forcing the school to briefly go on lockdown.

LAKEWOOD, WA — An armed carjacking and police pursuit forced Clover Park High School to briefly enter lockdown midday Wednesday.

According to initial reports from the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, deputies chased the suspect into Lakewood sometime in the early afternoon. He pulled up near the high school, exited the stolen vehicle, and took off on foot.

The school was locked down while deputies continued their pursuit. Deputies captured and arrested the suspect shortly afterwards. The gun used in the carjacking has also been recovered.

As the suspect was taken into custody, lockdown was lifted, as there were no ongoing safety concerns. No injuries have been reported.

Little else about the initial carjacking has been released, though deputies have promised to give more details on the incident as the situation unfolds.
