Driver Arrested, Accused Of Vehicular Assault In SR-512 Crash
The crash put another person in the hospital with serious injuries, investigators said.

LAKEWOOD, WA — One person is in the hospital and another is behind bars accused of vehicular assault after a crash Monday afternoon in West Pierce County.
According to WSP Trooper Robert Reyer, the incident happened in the left lane of westbound SR-512, near the off ramps to Portland Ave. Investigators say thats where one driver —possibly intentionally— rear-ended another vehicle, pushing their victim into the back end of a semi-truck trailer.
The crash closed the leftmost lane of the 512 for some time while officers investigated.

As a result of the crash, one person has been taken to the hospital in serious condition. Troopers also say the causing driver is in custody, and likely to face vehicular assault charges. In Washington, vehicular assault is one of the most serious criminal traffic offenses, a felony punishable by up to 10 years and prison and $20,000 in fines.
