Harrison Prep Named Candidate School For International Baccalaureate Diploma Program

The challenging program started at Harrison Prep in 2008.

Harrison Preparatory School was recently accepted as a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program.

In March, the Clover Park School District Board of Directors supported the school’s application for the program.

“The staff at Harrison Prep firmly believes in the rigorous and high-quality education provided by the IB program,” said Lisa Boyd, principal at Harrison Prep. “We feel that pursuing the candidacy for the Diploma Program will result in continued high standards of education for our students.”

The IB program started at Harrison Prep in 2008 with support from Lakewood Rotary. Harrison Prep was authorized as an IB Middle Years Program in 2011, which is for students in grades 6-10. According to the International Baccalaureate Organization, the Diploma Program is an academically challenging and balanced program of education with final examinations that prepare 11th- and 12th-grade students for after high school.
