JBLM: Day And Nighttime Mortar Training Set For Next Week
Residents who live near the base will likely hear some loud noises through the week. Here's what to expect.
LAKEWOOD, WA — Residents of Lakewood who live near Joint Base Lewis-McChord will want to prepare for some extra noise next week.
The base announced Friday that soldiers will be conducting artillery and mortar training starting 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6. Training will conclude at midnight on Friday, Dec. 10.
During artillery training, JBLM Army units fire live munitions into a designated "artillery impact area" on JBLM's main campus. The base has described the upcoming training as "day and nighttime"training, meaning shelling should be expected around the clock.
