Several impaired drivers were removed from the road thanks to highly alert officers in Puyallup, according to the latest police log.

PUYALLUP, WA β€” One bored teen started a garbage fire in the City Hall parking garage, and a drunk man at Bradley Park started a multi-family brawl. Puyallup's officers don't get much rest, as shown in this iteration of the Puyallup Police Department crime log, covering select incidents reported between May 24 and 28.

Theft

312 Spring St. - Puyallup Historical Society at Meeker Mansion

Overnight, a table saw valued at $1,100 was stolen after someone cut the metal chain that was securing it to the mansion's exterior.

1000 39th Ave. S.E.

A woman was pulled over and arrested after running a red light in front of an officer and then admitting she'd used depressant prescriptions and cannabis.

Runaway Recovery

304 Second St. N.E. - McDonald's

An officer located chronic runaway/ward of the state at this location. The officer then had to wait for nearly four hours for CPS to respond and take custody.

The juvenile then promptly fled from the CPS vehicle as soon as it was outside of the city. He is once again a missing person.

701 43rd Ave. S.E. - Glenbrooke Apartments

A 13-year-old juvenile was called in as a runaway for the second night in a row. An officer located him, along with other juveniles, who were all returned home.

DV Assault

2700-block of Ninth Street Southeast

A female got into an argument with her brother over who knows more about dogs. She ended the argument by punching her brother in the head, causing a laceration. She was arrested and booked.

It is still unknown who was actually right.

Organized Retail Theft

3310 S. Meridian - Target

An unidentified suspect stole roughly $800 in video games before fighting with Loss Prevention staff and escaping the store in a white Toyota Yaris, which had no front license plate and an out-of-state rear plate.

Police say the man committed the same offense at Target on May 21. He is also suspected of hitting Targets in Marysville and Wilsonville, Oregon.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery / Warrant / Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance

1100 N. Meridian - Fred Meyer

An officer was on proactive patrol through the parking lot when he discovered an occupied stolen Range Rover near the Riverwalk Trail. The vehicle had been stolen in Renton and was occupied by a male (who had a felony Burglary warrant out of Seattle).

Syringes and a small amount of methamphetamine were located. He was arrested without incident and booked.

DUI

3100 S. Meridian

A male was stopped by an officer for running a red light. After completing field sobriety tests, he was ultimately arrested for DUI. He provided breath results ranging from .137 - .143. He was booked.

400 Fifth Ave. N.W.

A female was stopped by an officer for driving without headlights. Another officer took over the investigation and ultimately arrested the driver for DUI. After some challenges with the BAC process, the driver eventually provided breath results ranging from .147 - .153. She was booked.

Residential Burglary - Garage

2000-block of Ninth Avenue Southwest

Sometime between May 18 and 25, unknown suspects forced open a locked garage door and stole a variety of tools, including a chainsaw, weed easter, jackhammer, generator and hand tools, as well as a kegerator.

Vehicle versus Tree - Medical Cause

100 37th Ave. S.E.

A truck turned from South Meridian eastbound onto 37th Ave Se before the driver suffered a medical episode. Witnesses reported the truck jumped the raised yellow β€œC” curbing, missed oncoming traffic and jumped down into the parking lot next to Shari’s before meeting its match against a tree.

SFST’s performed. No serious injuries. Driver re-evaluation requested. Thankfully, everyone is OK.

Sometime overnight, the victim’s driver’s door lock was punched and numerous power tools and detachable batteries, saws and other tools stolen.

812 South Hill Park Dr. - Holiday Inn

Sometime overnight, the victim’s 2016 Ford F-250 was prowled. Unknown entry but found unlocked. Suspects stole the victim’s β€œgo bag” containing his Glock 17, wallet, money clip with $1,500 cash, credit cards all inside. The weapon was entered as stolen.

1515 S. Meridian - Hampton Inn

Sometime overnight, the victim’s 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer was entered. Jumper pack, phone charger, sunglasses and an β€œammo bag” were all stolen from inside. The ammo bag contained 9mm, 5.7 mm and .44 caliber rounds were all inside with ear protection.

Fortunately, there were no firearms inside on this one.

201 37th Ave. S.E. - Hobby Lobby

An officer made a proactive contact with a male in the parking lot. The male was found to have a PPD Theft warrant and a non-extraditable Burglary warrant out of California.

Search incident to arrest, a small amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located. He was booked.

Malicious Mischief

203 35th Ave. S.E. - Black Angus

The victim’s rear window was smashed out while she was at work.

DV Assault / DV Malicious Mischief / DV Order Violation

3300-block of 27th Street S.E.

Officers responded to a DV and arrested a female who had drunkenly assaulted her husband and her sister-in-law. The female had also broken a door and damaged property.

The husband was also arrested as he was the respondent in a Protection Order with the wife and had a DV Assault warrant out of Oregon. Both were booked.

Sometime overnight someone broke into the victim’s unsecured work van and stole several hand tools.

Between 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. someone broke out the rear window to the victim’s truck and stole his backpack. The backpack contained forty ironman tags.

An officer contacted a 38-year-old male who he observed trying to dump his Methamphetamine out on the ground, so he would not get caught with it. The male admitted to hiding the rest of his Methamphetamine (4.9 grams) in his girlfriend’s purse. He also had warrants for his arrest. He was booked in county.

Accidental Discharge

300-block of South Meridian

During a memorial ceremony a male accidentally discharged his firearm. There were no injuries. He had his firearm in his belt and not in a holster. When he went to adjust his pants, the firearm went off.

Case to the prosecutor for review.

3610 S. Meridian - Panera Bread

A white 1991 Honda Accord was stolen from the South Hill Mall parking lot, near Panera Bread. The victim said the vehicle was locked.

A car previously stolen from Auburn was located abandoned next to where the previously mentioned Honda Accord was stolen. Officers recovered a fingerprint on the recovered vehicle's rear-view mirror.

Reckless Burning

333 S. Meridian - City Hall Parking Garage

One of two teens who were skateboarding the City Hall parking garage told police that he β€” out of boredom β€” used a lighter to ignite a McDonald's take-out bag he pulled from the garbage. As the bag became engulfed in flames, the boy said he threw the bag in the air out of fear, but that the bag then landed back in the garbage can.

The boy said he used a fire extinguisher to douse the burning bag, thinking he got all of it before leaving the area. The fire, however, damaged the garbage cans.

The boys parents were called and later took custody of their children. The report was then forwarded to the juvenile prosecutor for review.

A male called to report that an unknown person took his unsecured orange and gray GT bicycle while he was using the restroom within the restaurant.

Third Street Southeast and East Pioneer

A man who was stopped while driving the wrong way on Third Street Southeast, from Spring Street, later provided BAC samples of nearly triple the legal limit (0.221 and 0.205). He was arrested.

DUI – Drugs

304 Second St. N.E.

A man told police he'd consumed Xanax before heading to McDonald's, where he hit another car in the drive-thru area. He was arrested.

Sometime overnight someone smashed the victim’s mailbox

600-block of Ninth Avenue Southeast

Sometime overnight the victim’s 2007 Nissan Armada was stolen. The vehicle was entered as stolen and is equipped with Lojack.

1000-block of 10th Avenue Southeast

An officer's License Plate Reader pinged on a possibly abandoned stolen car. After confirming the car was stolen, the officer dusted the vehicle for prints and contacted the registered owner.

Trespass / Warrant Arrest

3310 S. Meridian - Target

A female was contacted within the South Hill Mall after she was recognized by Target loss prevention from a previous trespass, which prevented her from entering the Mall property, indefinitely. Records also confirmed she had multiple warrants for her arrest. She was booked.

Disorderly Fight (Assault 4th degree)

3003 Fifth St. S.E. – Bradley Lake Park

The squad was dispatched to what was initially believed to be a very large fight within Bradley Lake park. We were advised of a potential stabbing; baseball bat, knife and firearms being displayed by multiple individuals. Dispatch advised of a possible suspect running from the area too.

Officers converged on the park moments later to numerous individuals pointing in all different directions.

To make a long story short, a male was highly intoxicated and became upset and began destroying his small barbecue, which upset a nearby family. An argument began and the male became involved in a physical altercation between numerous people, to include a female who was struck in the face.

Numerous individuals fled the area prior to our arrival. Numerous witnesses also left the area upon our arrival and numerous victims refused to cooperate and left the area too.

Witnesses did point to the male who was trying to flee the area, however he was quickly detained attempting to leave the park. Officers were initially led to believe he had used a knife to threaten numerous individuals, however witnesses who stated they had video left the scene and did not want to provide video or cooperate, therefore Officers were not able to determine if a knife was used to threaten people.

Officers did a great job securing the scene and determining that there was no stabbing or outstanding suspect with a weapon, insuring park patrons were safe as there were multiple families within the park. The male was booked for assault.
