Where Have You Heard Illegal Fireworks in Puyallup?

The Fourth of July is coming up quick. For many of us, it's the most dreaded time of the year.

You guessed it -- I have those kinds of neighbors. The kind who start celebrating around June 25th and don't stop until well after the Fourth. From loud booms that shake the house to poppers that sound like gunshots, it keeps me up late at night and scares my pets.

You may want to call police every time, but according to the State Fire Marshal, that's not a good idea. The majority of firework-related calls are not an emergency and tie up the 9-1-1 system, potentially delaying an emergency call from getting through.

According to the Fire Marshal, "reporting illegal activities or use of fireworks to 9-1-1 should be limited to those instances when the activity is in progress and poses a threat or danger to others or yourself."

When Should I Call 9-1-1?

• A firework-related injury from using fireworks, including burns, eye injuries or severed body parts.
• A fire has started.
• The neighbor just lit off M-80s or other illegal fireworks.
• You have found a short piece of pipe with a fuse coming out of it.
• If you find your neighbor is making fireworks in their garage or property.
