9-Year-Old Shot By Brother In South King County: Police
Medics airlifted a boy to Harborview Medical Center Thursday after he was shot by his brother inside a Federal Way apartment, police said.
FEDERAL WAY, WA — An 8-year-old boy shot his 9-year-old brother while "handling a handgun" inside the family's apartment in Federal Way, according to police. Commander Kurt Schwan, a department spokesperson, said officers and medics rushed to an apartment complex on South 336th Street, near Kitts Corner, just before 8 a.m.
Schwan said officers were first on the scene and immediately provided medical aid before the young boy was airlifted to Harborview in unknown condition. According to The Seattle Times, the boy was in critical condition late Thursday morning.
Detectives from the city's Criminal Investigations Section were called to the scene, and police said the case remained active and no other details were immediately available, including information on where the gun came from or whether the shooting was believed to be accidental.
